A highly recognizable food products brand name company wanted to lower its carbon footprint and make better use of resources, including boxes and glass, but especially plastics.
IMPACT analyzed the company’s different waste streams stemming from the wide diversity of food products, and determined the best means for collecting, aggregating, and moving the various scrap materials into dedicated reuse and recycling streams from the food products.
IMPACT was able to divert 363 total tons of waste from landfill or incineration, reduce 149 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions, take the equivalent of 116 passenger cars off the road for one year, and generate over $24,000 in new revenue for the company from materials destined for the landfill that were instead sold to other companies.
